The word gospel in scripture literally means, "good news."
We have fallen short of the purity and goodness we were created for.
And we can’t fix it on our own. No amount of effort or morality that we can achieve in the best of human endeavor or creativity is enough to lift us up to God.
Because of this, God, in His love, came to us in the person of Jesus. He lived a perfect life and died to pay our penalty of sin and for our missing the mark of true goodness.
Then, He rose from the dead, becoming our Example, not just in living, and not just in sacrificing Himself, but in His Resurrection, a foreshadowing of the hope of heaven and of the new creation to come.
The good news of the gospel is simple enough for a child to understand and deep enough that we will spend the rest of our lives walking into the gift of His grace.
