Service Never Sleeps mobilizes communities to exercise “Allyship,” an active way of life that utilizes bridge-building to ensure equality, opportunity, and inclusion for everyone. Generosity Feeds is an organization that helps identify, raise awareness and support for and actually work to feed hungry children in America. Hunger is closer than we think, and even in the richest area in the richest country in the world, there are still families with children who are vulnerable to food insecurity.
Working with churches, non-profit groups and corporations with local school districts, GenFeeds supports catalytic generosity events all over the country and their influence is growing like crazy. The NOVA Human Trafficking Initiative is a local group working to help the "least of these" through prevention, victim services, prayer and efforts to raise awareness. The Surge has several people who are offering to help these individuals through a variety of means, and you can be a huge help!

The Songwriter's Association of Washington (SAW) is, as you would expect, a group of musical pirates who sail the oceans of silence lying in wait for song starved prey.
Every third Saturday, The Surge and SAW sponsor a concert featuring local songwriters and amazing musical performances, along with coffee, dessert, friendship and laughter. These are amazing nights of music and we invite you to come! For more information, check our facebook page and saw.org for upcoming events! Want to enjoy an amazing show at one of the best concert venues in Northern Virginia? Perhaps a snack or a tasty beverage while the band is delivering decibelicous gourmet ear food? Post on a venue's facebook page and tell them how awesome they are?
Then check out thestatetheatre.com for events and tickets. You'll be glad you did! It's not just about Sunday morning for these folks, they do good stuff other days too! The Yoga Center has a number of classes occurring every week! If you need a healthy break for lunch, a more advanced yoga setting, or a great introduction to Yoga, certified instructor Kathy Turner would be glad to speak with you and get you connected.

Our Daily Bread provides our Fairfax County area neighbors in need with short-term safety-net services and empowers them to work toward long-term self-sufficiency. We welcome individual volunteers and those from local faith-based groups, community organizations, businesses, schools and universities.
Every year we sponsor families as we can to give them a hand up, and ODB is our go to local charity for this kind of work - check it out today! Family Pass is a local organization in Fairfax, helping families get out of, and stay out of homelessness. Their process and success rate are simply crazy good. If you're looking for an organization that makes a difference - that lasts for generations - Family Pass could not be more highly recommended.
They were recently featured on a news special on ABC... hit their website check it out today! Every week the Surge delivers hundreds of pounds of bread to shelters and non-profits assisting families in our area. We also made bread available to anyone who needs it Sunday mornings @ the State Theatre in Falls Church. This is made possible through the generosity of Panera, who as a corporation donates their left over bread at the end of the day to people in need.
So grab a lunch or a tasty snack at Panera when you can - we definitely want to support them. And if you would like to be a part Capital Caring is a group that coordinates support and love in practical ways for families with members in hospice in our area. From logistical support, to simply spending time with the elderly and their family members, there is a lot of great work to do.
