Ok, that slide is just awesome.

We're continuing @the Movies series: this week is Silver Linings Playbook!

Special music today is "Odds Are" by the Bare Naked Ladies.  No actual nudity involved, just the band's name.

Remember to check our  weekly email newsletter for free eBooks - the link is there and you can download great content for no charge... these are short, each one will take about an hour for the normal person to read

Closing out our @ the Movies series next week is Gravity, if you haven't seen that yet, talk to E and he will connect with you on a special viewing!

See you soon!

We're continuing our @the Movies series this morning with 42, the story of Jackie Robinson!

Mid-Service: KidQuest, Connection Cards, Special is Brave by Sara Bareilles

We had a great time with the movie night, thanks to everyone who came out!

Also a fun evening with E, ordaining him officially!

There is a new event at the Barn on the first Tuesday night of the month, Firehouse.  A few dozen young adults in the 20s-30s age range get together to eat, worship and study the word together.  It's a great event, once a month, if you know anyone interested, pass the word!

We have an test run going for a fundraiser event, with Naked Pizza.  Order pizza in McLean or Reston and 20% of the proceeds comes back to support the Surge.  If you order online, just type SURGE in the coupon box.  We had this pizza at the Movie Night and it was very good!

Next week is Silver Linings Playbook... hope for broken people... so bring a friend!

We're kicking off our @ the Movies series with Mud, with Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon...

Our special music is "Love Don't Die" by the Fray, Connection Cards, KidQuest, Greet Each Other

Movie Night: Everyone grab a couple of the invite tickets talking about 42, the Story of Jackie Robinson, on the tables and give those to anyone who might be interested!  Instead of small groups this week, we're gathering at the Barn (our old building just down the street) to watch a movie and eat some pizza.  Movie starts at 7pm, show up a little early to grab some food - childcare is provided!  Wednesday night, Feb 12th, 7pm.

E Ordination: This coming Saturday, 5pm at the Barn as well.  No pressure, but would love for you guys to come be a part of this.  It will be a great time to pray over him and get hugged by Evangeline before you can get away.

No SAW event this month!

Please continue to pray about the sale of the building.  It's under contract and things are moving!  Pray that God does everything He wants to do!

Next week, continuing our @the Movies series, with 42 - E's going to talk about Jackie Robinson, self-control and how to steal a base in the major leagues!  That's good info!  We'll see you soon!

Story Chapter Three, Joseph!

Our special this morning is Wrecking Ball, performed by Miley Cyrus.

You've probably seen Miley on the news recently, or maybe you've caught some of her music video which is not what we would consider family friendly.  We actually talked about whether or not to do the song, because while we want to be relevant to our culture, we don't want to encourage or participate in an association of things that could be considered immoral or impure.

We decided to go ahead, because the song itself is a great example of our culture expressing the emotions of someone who has been hurt.  And responding to that hurt without God.  The lyrics are about a girl who is deeply wounded by a relationship gone bad.

This fits into the idea of our service, because in the story of Joseph, he also, was incredibly wounded by dysfunctional relationships that cost him dearly and in a very personal way.  His freedom was lost, his reputation was gone... his family was stripped away.

As we do Wrecking Ball, and we've all been hurt by someone, here's the question we want you to ask...

What happens next?  What do we do after a Wrecking Ball experience?  How do we deal with this kind of wounding?  The story of Joseph gives us an interesting option... and possibly a way out.

Later today is the SuperBowl... which seems kinda silly.  Do you really have to choose between soup OR a bowl?  Like you'd ever eat soup without a bowl!  It's a great day if you enjoy territorial land acquisition games!

Movie series starts next week, first movie is Mud!  I hear that McConaughey keeps his shirt on until very late in the film.

Wednesday, Feb 12th, we're doing a movie night!  42, the story of Jackie Robinson.  We'll meet at the Barn, our facility at 1988 Kirby Road at 6:45 to grab food and the movie starts at 7pm. Childcare provided!

That Saturday, Feb 15th at 5pm, we'll get together to ordain E... have some food and if folks want to stick around, there will be a SAW event, with a song circle starting at 7.

Take care and we'll see you soon!
