It's that time of year, so we'll be talking about Groundhog Day today! Probably kidding...It's Christmas in December, so we'll have a lovely version of Silent Night.
People in our area will often look for year end gifts, we thank you for your generosity! Caroling was a great success! We sang and visited with the residents and their families at Powhatan Nursing home as Greg led us with his canoe in one hand and 100 horrible deer puns in the other. Cookie exchange is today - so if you're wanting to help talk to Nickie Wright and she'll get you plugged in! They are going to have lunch, then meet over at the Barn. NO SERVICE ON DECEMBER 28th! But we will have an online message you can tune in to... check your facebook and email! After the first of the year, we'll be launching some amazing training as we lead into small groups! On January 8th, 15th and 22nd we'll be showing some national leaders talking about change, then discussing ideas for where we go as a church in the coming year. So come, bring dinner with you and dream with us! Next Firehouse is Tuesday, Jan 6th! Also, we've heard that Tysons Corner mall is completely empty today, so if you have any last minute shopping, you'll be able to get in and get out really easily - no crowds at all! CHRISTMAS EVE - this Wed afternoon. At 2:30, we'll kickoff with hot chocolate, cookies and the best music you've ever heard, ever. Karen on harp and her friend Lisa-Beth Lambert, a first violinist in the Philadelphia orchestra will be playing some Christmas music... these are premiere orchestral musicians and they will be worth the trip! We'll still be the Surge, so expect some laughter and love and some generosity, but it will be a heart warming afternoon - so bring people! There are invites on the tables and an event on facebook you can share. That's it... we'll see you soon! ~The Surge

We're into our Cities message series, Story Chapter 30, talking about Paul's Last Days - and asking, "how can we finish well?" Pray... we're not the band, the whole room is the band!
Mid-Service: Pray. Connection cards... KidQuest with Greg J upstairs (2nd to 6th grade). Special music today is Gone, Gone, Gone by Phillip Phillips - an artist no nice, they named him twice. Greet each other and try to find an introvert to hug. Communion: Pray Offering - don't forget offering! Christmas Caroling is TODAY with Greg Johnson, meeting at 2:15 at the Powhatan nursing home. So grab some lunch and meet us there! Next week some families are getting together to coordinate the cookie exchange. So bake some cookies and get with Nickie Wright! They are going to put together the giveaway packages next Sunday after service. We have invite cards on the tables for our Christmas Eve service - you all are invited! If you know anyone who might like to come, give them a ticket! It starts at 2:30 with some great harp music, cookies and hot chocolate... and we'll have an amazing candlelight service beginning at 3. Going early so you can still have lots of time to spend with your family that evening. Important! We will not be having service the Sunday after Christmas, Dec 28th. But we will have a message online that you can tune in for... so check your email and facebook in a couple of weeks as we close out the Story then. Next week we'll be digging into some Christmas messages and we hope to see you soon! Thanks, ~The Surge |
